The team was founded as an expansion team and is based in Columbus, Ohio, where they play in the National Hockey League (NHL) as part of the Central Division of the Western Conference. Currently, the team’s captain is Rick Nash and they play their home games at the Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus since they began playing. The team is also affiliated with the Evansville IceMen of the ECHL and the Springfield Falcons of the AHL.

Inspired by the history of Civil War, the Blue Jackets’ name and logos were formed. The team was qualified in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in 2009. The Blue Jackets had also produces remarkable NHL figures which include Rick Nash, David Vyborny, Ray Whitney, Chris Clark, Fredrik Modin, Steve Mason, Geoff Sanderson, R. J. Umberger and Sergei Fedorov.
