The team is a skillful member of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the NHL. Currently, they play their home games at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa. The Lightning is more commonly known as the Bolts. They are using this nickname on their current third jersey since the 2008 – 2009 seasons. Also, Vincent Lecavalier is the team’s captain since 2008.

The Lightning first played the ice hockey on October 7, 1992. They had their games played at the Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds. The team had success during their first play, but started to have gone bad as the seasons passed. But the team grew strong and has attained great records in the history of ice hockey. The Lightning won one Stanley Cup Championship Title in the 2003 – 2004 seasons. They also grabbed the Prince of Wales Trophy in that same season. Their current team captain Lecavalier also captured the NHL Foundation Player Award in the 2008 season.  With these great records, the team had established a strong fan base.
