One of the toughest clubs in the world of professional ice hockey, the Winnipeg Jets is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada that plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) as part of the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference. The team was founded in 1999 and was the former Atlanta Thrashers. The team relocated in Winnipeg prior to the 2011 – 2012 NHL seasons. The Atlanta Thrashers has been purchased by True North Sports & Entertainment, and eventually changed their name into Winnipeg Jets. They take their name from the Winnipeg's original WHA/NHL team, which relocated and became the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996.

The Jets currently had their home games played at the MTS Centre in Downtown Winnipeg, with Andrew Ladd as the team captain and Claude Noel as the  head coach. The team is also being managed by Kevin Cheveldayoff with the True North Sports & Entertainment still the team’s owner. The Jets is affiliated with the St. John's Ice Caps of AHL and the Colorado Eagles of ECHL. As the former Atlanta Thrashers, the team had gained numerous awards including the Southeast Division championship title and has been qualified to appear in the Stanley Cup in seasons 2006 and 2007.
