The Bronx, New York is home to the gallant New York Yankees, one of the toughest professional baseball team around. This team is part of the first eight teams that formed the American League baseball franchise. The club was formed in 1901 in Baltimore and back then they were called the Orioles of Baltimore. In 1903 they migrated to New York City, where they changed their name to reflect their switch in base and came to be known as the New York Highlanders. They didn’t get to be called the “Yankees” until 1913. Between 1923 and 2008, they were playing their home games at the Yankee stadium from 1923 to 2008. Presently, their home games are played at their new stadium called the Yankee Stadium. They have been playing there since 2009.
